Nobody should be surprised to see an image of Eddie Shack that includes a couple other people experiencing some sort of disorder. Eddie’s 1966 tribute song by Douglas Rankine with the Secrets, which opens with, “Clear the track, here comes Shack; he knocks them down and he gives them a whack,” is a testament to the crazy winger’s chaotic behaviours.

Eddie even had a disruptive effect on Douglas Rankine with the Secrets who, concerned for their hip image, were disappointed when the novelty song achieved national fame that no one ever forgot, thus constantly requested. That’s the kind of confusion that has always followed Eddie around.

David Ward authors books like The Lost 10 Point Night and Bay of Hope.
