Throughout 2018 I collected thousands of 35mm slides and medium format film negatives. But it has taken me the entire year to see what kind of acquisition I most enjoy.
I like a large body of work from one photographer, an under-appreciated stockpile from the ’60s. I’ve obtained not only these Rickerby originals, but others from two veterans who documented their Vietnam war service. I have come by a collection created by a meteorologist with considerable camera skills; a family who drove their ’68 Mustang from Alaska to Newfoundland; and an amateur taker of portraits. I’ve also secured the thousand slides my late father took. Happy new year.
