Moving to Australia for a year at 21 was a scary event for me. So the first thing I did upon arriving in Oz was connect with Steve Voisin — an old friend from home. Steve was playing hockey in Melbourne where he won the President’s Medal, Australia’s highest hockey honour, in 1980.

Steve’s team found me accommodation and a job. As usual, life would have been much harder for me if not for friends. So thirty-eight years later I’m sending out thanks to Australia’s St. Kilda Monarchs Ice-Hockey Club, and officially honouring Steve for his wonderful award.
