Stanley, Richard ©2018

I see several stories in each of Arthur’s images. #26 Allan Stanley, for example, made his home in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, a town made famous by the Tragically Hip. Or how about the fact that there are not only three Hockey Hall of Famers in this photo — Allan, #16 Henri Richard, and #12 Yvan Cournoyer — but also the Hall’s present Director of Public Affairs, Ron Ellis.

Yet the most intriguing part of this picture for me is the phallic way in which Richard is holding Stanley’s stick. To say I don’t see psychosexual circumstances in this photograph would require I deny my own biology.

    1. i like what you say about “all eyes on the puck,” brad. i’ve always been naive regarding the level of treachery that these men play at. i often give them the benefit of the doubt, which is crazy. nice to hear from you. thanks for checking in.
