Armstrong, Bower ©2020

What!?! You thought I would never deliver a dud? Don’t be silly. It’s all part of the process — an absence of clarity, some scratches and spots, a significant tear in the film… even the slob feeding the scanner couldn’t load this one straight.

Which raises the question, what to do with imperfect photographs? Throw them out? We still recognize the men in this image: George Armstrong, the last Leaf captain to lift the Stanley Cup, and his lieutenant, the late, great Johnny Bower. So don’t kid yourself, your children will one day wonder what to do with old photos of you, and they might not find the idea of disposal as difficult as I do.

David Ward authors books like The Lost 10 Point Night and Bay of Hope.
